First Impressions

I first discovered Dong Bang Shin Ki via the Ear Worm entry at TV Tropes. I immediately went to youtube to check out the Mirotic video.

'

I will never forget the visceral reaction I had to this video. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up, my skin felt hot and cool and the same time, and when Changmin let loose with his "YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! OW!" I felt like I'd been struck like a bolt of lightning. It's his belting here that probably made him my original favorite.

My first impressions of them as individuals?

On Jaejoong: Well, he makes the whole "clothes awkwardly hanging off me" thing work for him. Ooh. He's tied up. Nice biceps. Don't know if he's my type, though.

On Yunho: Ooh. Nice, confident smile. Yum.

On Yoochun: Sexy voice, but what the fuck is up with his hair?

On Junsu: His voice is a little too squeaky for my tastes. And why is he wearing a sweatshirt tied around his waist? Is he trying to hide something?

On Changmin: He's...all...wet. OMFG. Please be 18.

I really love the pop n lock dance style. I mean I'm really digging that they're bringing it back for the past few years at least. I think it looks so awesome when a bunch of people are doing it at the same time, too. They sure are hotties. hehe.

My initial reaction was holy fucking shit, who are these guys and where have I been? Yunho and Junsu were my original favorites. Yunho's dance moves blew me away. Junsu's duet with Zhang Liyin made me cry ( not too mention the Timeless video made me fall head over heels for Siwon Choi). But, eventually, somehow, that skinny, whiny, bony ass crybaby with the ajumma haircut, swan like neck, perfect collar bones and voice "made for sex" won me over. Funny how shit happens, doesn't it?

Indeed it is.

Junsu is just so fierce in this vid. Yunho is confident and sexy. Changmin is so long and lean and self-aware in a "I know you want me" kind of way. Jaejoong is...Jaejoong. Yoochun...there are glimpses in this vid that were previews for why he became my favorite. I think it's his passion.

It's hard to take my eyes off of Junsu here, though. Talk about charisma.

My verbal reaction to them as a whole, after I had composed myself enough to think straight, was OMFG Korea, how have I missed this hottness? I must have more.

Rain was my introduction to K-Pop, and even though i think he is the hottest thing since kimchi, given a choice, I'd still fuck Yoochun from here until eternity. Can't explain it; but there it is.

I was actually familiar with Rain before DBSK came out with Mirotic, but other than a few mp3s and "ooh, he's pretty hot" he didn't create much fanfare the first time around. Rain won me over when I watched Full House.

But Mirotic changed everything.

I know what you mean. I had quite the same reaction but mine was provoked by this song:

I actually remember having to stop breathing at one point and not blinking because I was so moved. I found them incredibly good looking but... it wasn't because they were actually handsmoe but more about the all vibe they were sending. They could have been hunchback, I would have still found them gorgeous at that precise moment. I don't know if that makes any sense but that was a powerful experience.

Ooh. Love in the Ice. That song just murders me. The harmonies. Junsu's climb. Yoochun's "Let you know my love". OMFG I love these guys so hard.

Do you prefer the Tohoshinki or the Dong Bang Shin Ki version?

Personally, I prefer the Korean version, even though it's not the original. I think the lyrics are sadder in the Korean version and that they sing with more passion in that version too. That and the fact that Changmin wrote the Korean lyrics is fascinating to me. That he could carry such sentiments underneath all that snark is really something. :)

Also, I will know everything is all right if they perform that song singing it to each other the way they do.

You know I love the Chun, but...Min...he looks so...deliciously long.

I wish this had been shot at a better angle, like 360-degree, Michael Bay style :)
